This reflection examines the relationship between an individual's social status and their inherent abilities or human qualities. The author posits that one's social standing should ideally be slightly lower than their full capacity, allowing for the fulfillment of duties with ease rather than through extreme strain that deforms one's life. However, reality often presents the opposite scenario, where climbing the social ladder results in internal emptiness and a loss of self. A central theme is the critique of arrivism, defined here not as being a newcomer to high office, but as lacking the inner substance required for such roles. While an individual may initially impress others with perceived qualities, these are eventually depleted and replaced by superficial fillers. The author illustrates this process using the metaphor of wine diluted with water until nothing of the original remains. The text serves as a warning against losing one's identity in the pursuit of status and emphasizes the importance of maintaining inner integrity.
