This text examines the nature of intentional objects, research into which began in Ancient Greece with the discovery of geometric shapes. The author elaborates on the idea that ancient thinkers perceived mathematical entities, such as the triangle, as more real and stable than the volatile world of everyday experience. This ontological discovery laid the foundations for a long-standing fascination with mathematics in Western philosophy. The text highlights Husserl's concept of intentional objects as a key to understanding the nature of these entities, which are not mere mental constructs but exhibit their own inherent laws. The development moved from purely intellectual wonder to the modern emphasis on the efficiency of mathematization in the exact sciences. This process culminated in Kant's assertion that the degree of scientific rigor in any field is directly proportional to the presence of mathematics. The work thus reflects on the tension between the constructed nature of mathematical objects and their unquestionable authority within scientific knowledge and the description of the world.
