This text explores the ontological distinction between being and duration, arguing that being cannot be reduced to simple persistence or inertia. Instead, being is presented as something that must be actively performed or exercised. The common assumption that 'to be' implies a continuous, unchanged state over time is dismissed as a mere approximation. The author contends that absolute identity between what a thing was, is, and will be is non-existent and impossible within our universe. This impossibility stems from the fact that the universe is fundamentally built upon events and happenings rather than static substances. Consequently, the notion of duration as mere inertia is contrasted with the dynamic nature of existence. By situating being within a process-oriented framework, the text challenges traditional views of identity and suggests that existence is a continuous activity within an ever-changing cosmic reality defined by events rather than permanent objects.

Bytí a trvání
