This philosophical essay explores the critical distinction between the concept of the "Self" and the authentic "I" as a non-objective subject. The author contends that the term "Self," as commonly used in English traditions, refers to an objectified version of the subject, which fundamentally differs from the true "I" that exists by definition as a non-object. While constructing or knowing the "Self" appears to fulfill the Delphic command to "know thyself," doing so within the framework of Greek conceptual tradition inevitably leads to self-alienation. This alienation arises when the subject mistakenly identifies itself with its own objectification. Consequently, the text emphasizes the necessity of a new philosophical project: a mode of thinking that maintains conceptual rigor and precision but decouples concepts from intentional objects. Instead, it proposes linking concepts to intentional non-objects. By moving away from reifying the subject, this new methodology seeks to approach the "I" without transforming it into a mere thing. This transformation in intentionality is presented as the only way to achieve genuine self-understanding and to overcome the historical tendency of identification with objectified representations, thereby preserving the essential nature of human subjectivity.

Subjekt
