This text explores the philosophical concept of existence, tracing its evolution from the traditional essence-existence dichotomy to the modern interpretations sparked by Søren Kierkegaard. The author analyzes the etymological roots of the term, specifically the Greek stasis and the prefix ek-, implying a sense of standing out or standing outside. A critical point is raised regarding the lack of movement and action in these traditional definitions, which poses a challenge for understanding existence in terms of transgression or transcendence. The author proposes an ek-static moment of being—a state that is neither conditioned by the subject's activity nor considered an inherent component of it. By re-examining these linguistic and philosophical foundations, the document seeks to provide a fresh interpretation of existence that moves beyond the mere occurrence of objects in the world. It emphasizes the need to address the dynamic nature of being while acknowledging the limitations of historical terminology, ultimately contributing to contemporary ontological discourse regarding the status of the existing subject.

Existence (ek-sistence)
