This text provides a profound ontological reflection on the relationship between the notion of the subject and the concept of the "encompassing" (Umgreifendes), as formulated by Karl Jaspers. The author critically examines the etymological roots of the term "subject," which suggests a direction "underneath," and contrasts it with the Greek term períechein, signifying embracing or surrounding. The core of the argument is the thesis that the subject must be understood as a creation or a specific constitution of the being-event. From this perspective, the quality of "encompassing" must belong to the event at its very foundation, even before its subjectivity is established. However, the text also emphasizes that once an event has constituted its subject, this subject becomes essential for maintaining the event's integrity and continuity. Participation in integrity clearly points toward a wholeness to which the principle of "encompassing" inherently belongs. This reflection offers a significant contribution to understanding the hierarchy of philosophical categories within process thinking, where the integrity of the whole depends on the dialectic between the foundational horizon and the emerging subject.

Subjekt a „obklopující“
Samo slovo (název, pojmenování) „subjekt“ naznačuje směr „pod“; naproti tomu Jaspers dal přednost starému řeckému períechein a mluví o „umgreifen“ resp. o „Umgreifendes“.
