This text explores the ontological question of what it means for something "to be" and how we define "being" or "entity." The author begins by distinguishing the auxiliary functions of the verb "to be"—common in mathematical equations or grammatical descriptions—from its deeper meaning denoting actual existence. A central theme is the distinction between universals (abstracts) and concrete entities. The text argues that general concepts such as "dog" or "vertebrate" do not constitute true reality, as they are merely mental constructs. Genuine being is identified exclusively in specific, unique individuals at a particular moment in time. In this context, being is not a static state but rather an active occurrence, a process of happening, and a way of becoming oneself within the world. The reflection leads toward a dynamic conception of reality where existence is fundamentally tied to spatiotemporal context and the concreteness of individual being, thereby delineating the boundaries between mere concepts and lived reality.
