This text explores a reevaluation of the traditional understanding of the relationship between cause and effect, drawing on Kierkegaard’s observations regarding the discrepancy between the magnitude of a cause and its resulting effect. The author challenges the linear logic of causality and proposes a radical shift in perspective: a cause is not something that automatically and independently produces an effect; rather, it is the subsequent reaction that retroactively defines the preceding event as a cause. Without the activity and reaction of the effect, the original event would remain devoid of causal significance. The paper argues that the causal relationship is essentially triggered and constituted by the activity of the effect, rather than being solely determined by the power of the cause. This approach emphasizes the role of subjectivity and action in the emergence of causality, thereby complicating conventional deterministic views of the world. The result is a concept where the 'effect' is an active agent that retroactively 'causes' something else to become its cause.

Příčina a následek
Není to dostatečný důvod k pořádnému zamyšlení?
