This text examines the relationship between philosophizing and speed, emphasizing that in certain human activities, quality and the manner of execution take precedence over swiftness. The author critiques Aristotle's distinction between teleological activities and those that are ends in themselves as too coarse for capturing the nuances of philosophical thought. Speed is associated with routine, which can be detrimental in philosophy, where every step must be constantly re-examined. Drawing on Jan Patočka’s idea that philosophy moves forward by "backing up," the text argues that progress often necessitates significant slowing down and delay. Such delays are of extraordinary importance as they reveal hidden or neglected perspectives. Ultimately, the goal of philosophy is not speed, the production of extensive treatises, or citation metrics, but rather a profound engagement with reality that resists the demands of routine efficiency and superficial haste.

Filosofování a rychlost
Jsou lidské činnosti, v nichž vůbec nejde o rychlost, nýbrž o to, aby měly kvalitu, buď aby vedly k dobrým výsledkům anebo aby samy byly provedeny co nejlépe.
