This reflection is based on a quote by the Spanish philosopher José Ortega y Gasset regarding nations living with a "stained conscience" in matters of governance and obedience. The author applies this concept to Czech history, specifically focusing on the Hussite period and its long-term consequences. The Hussite movement, which originally sought a profound reform of both ecclesiastical and secular life, is described as gradually betraying its own ideals and degenerating into a destructive power struggle. This process of internal decay and mutual conflict led to the exhaustion of the nation, which eventually abandoned its original visions in favor of mere survival. The Battle of the White Mountain is interpreted here as the logical conclusion of this moral and political crisis. The text concludes with a warning that any reform must be conducted in such a way as to avoid anarchy and, above all, to prevent opening the path to tyranny or the restoration of the very evils it originally opposed. It offers a profound meditation on the responsibility inherent in political power and the constant risk of losing ideological integrity.

Vláda a poslušnost
