This text examines the historical and structural relationship between philosophy and the specialized sciences. Philosophy is presented as the foundational discipline from which individual sciences gradually branched out. The author emphasizes that while these sciences retain certain philosophical underpinnings, the process of specialization has cost them the ability to perceive reality as a totality or a whole. This relationship to wholeness is constitutive of philosophy, whereas sciences tend to reduce objects to quantitatively defined sets, a tendency reinforced by Kant's view that scientific rigor is proportional to mathematical application. However, the text does not merely criticize scientific reductionism; it also poses the question of what the sciences gained through their separation and whether these gains are accessible to philosophy through any means other than the sciences themselves. The reflection aims at a deeper understanding of the mutual interdependence and divergence between these two forms of knowledge regarding the concept of the whole.

Filosofie a „vědeckost“
