The document entitled "Life and Faith / Faith and Life" explores the ontological connection between the phenomenon of faith and the very essence of existence. The author critiques Samuel Johnson’s observation that hope is the root of human effort, suggesting that this view is too narrow. Instead, the author proposes a more fundamental thesis: where there is no faith, there can be no life or reality. In this philosophical framework, faith is interpreted as a cosmic factor—a vital orientation toward the future that sustains all being. Without this forward-looking dynamic, existence itself would be impossible. The reflection further distinguishes between different levels of being, noting that while this orientation is implicit and instinctive in lower forms of life, it becomes a conscious and demanding challenge for human beings. For humanity, faith is not a self-evident certainty but a deliberate act that is far more complex than the unconscious drives of nature. Consequently, the text presents faith as a constitutive principle of all reality, reaching its most demanding form in human consciousness.

Život a víra / Víra a život
V některých příslovích (a úslovích) se skrývá víc pravdy, než se na první pohled zdá. Tak např. Samuel Johnson někde řekl, že tam, kde není naděje, nemůže být (vyvinuto) žádné úsilí („Where there is no hope, there can be no endeavour.“) Ale takto vyslovena platí myšlenka jen o člověku, a proto je její pravdivost vlastně dost omezená. Mnohem pravdivější by bylo, řekneme-li, že tam, kde není víra, není a nemůže být život („where there is no faith, there is no life – there can be no life“); pochopitelně myslím na víru jako na kosmický „faktor“ (což také není nejlepší formule, ale dá se držet). A nejen život: kde není onoho směřování do budoucnosti, tam není a nemůže být vůbec nic, žádné jsoucí (jsoucno), žádná skutečnost. Na úrovni člověka to je ovšem o to komplikovanější a také náročnější, že věřit vědomě není zdaleka tak „samozřejmé“, jak tomu je na nižších úrovních.
