This reflection explores the philosophical implications of the phrase "playing with history," inspired by a televised interview. The author examines whether history functions as an active subject that plays with human beings, much like the gods of antiquity were thought to do. However, the text argues that history lacks consciousness and a will of its own; instead, all historical activity originates from human actions. By referencing the Latin proverb "Fata volentes ducunt, nolentes trahunt," the essay distinguishes between the conscious whims of deities and the rationalized concept of fate (fatum), which even the gods cannot escape. The author suggests that humans often find themselves "dragged" by events that transcend individual will. Ultimately, the piece questions the nature of historical agency, positioning history not as a sentient force but as a complex interplay of human initiative and the uncontrollable power of destiny.

Co to vlastně znamená, „zahrávat si“?
