The document explores the problem of accessing the meaning of a text, arguing that meaning is not an inherent property of symbols but a challenge that demands active participation. This process requires a new understanding of time, particularly the role of the future in the actualization of sense. According to the author, meaning possesses a non-objective character; it cannot be treated as a static fact, recorded by technical means, or described impersonally. It functions as a non-material call to the reader to engage in its co-realization. If the reality of this call is denied, meaning becomes entirely subjectivized, reduced to mere psychic activity. In such a scenario, meaning would not be discovered or known but merely projected onto something inherently meaningless. The text highlights the tension between the subjective constitution of sense and the ontological status of the challenge that a text represents to its interpreter.
