This document is a transcript of an interview with Ladislav Hejdánek, conducted in July 2014 by editors Ivan Chvatík and Aleš Havlíček, with the participation of his wife, Heda Hejdánková. The conversation focuses on Hejdánek's recollections of Jan Patočka, his first encounter with him in 1946 at a YMCA conference in Brandýs nad Orlicí, and his gradual immersion into Patočka's thought, including discussions on pre-Socratics, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and Hegel. It also touches upon the atmosphere at the Faculty of Philosophy at the time, fellow students, and Patočka's efforts to avoid political pressure.
