The text offers a philosophical reflection on memory and the nature of the past, characterized by the term "has-been-ness" (bylost). The central argument posits that events which have already occurred remain real in a profound sense, even though they are no longer currently present. This reality does not depend on the act of remembering; rather, memory itself is only possible because the past persists as a form of reality. The author distinguishes between the common understanding of memory and an ontological "memory" that would be an integral component of the being of a true entity. Such an internal memory is neither mediated nor subsequently established, but is a fundamental way for a being to relate to itself, thereby maintaining its identity as a true entity. The text warns against conflating these two distinct concepts, as the ontological continuity of being differs fundamentally from ordinary mental processes. Ultimately, the reflection seeks to understand time and existence through the lens of the permanent reality of the past within the structure of being.

Paměť a pamatování
