This reflection offers a detailed examination of Aristotle's investigation into generation and corruption as presented in his treatise On Generation and Corruption (319a). The author analyzes the distinction between absolute and relative generation, emphasizing that the processes of coming-to-be and passing-away are inextricably linked to the category of non-being within procedural changes. The core of the text lies in the analysis of the pivotal proposition that "generation is the corruption of non-being, and corruption is the generation of non-being." A significant portion of the discussion is dedicated to identifying a critical inaccuracy in a specific Czech translation, which erroneously substitutes the "generation of non-being" with the "generation of being," thereby disrupting the symmetry of Aristotle's argumentation. Although the text acknowledges complex issues surrounding "absolute non-being" and the Aristotelian concept of matter (hylé) as pure potentiality, it deliberately brackets these ontological depths. Instead, it focuses on the formal precision of Aristotle’s diction and the logical structure of his argument regarding the interconnectedness of being and non-being. The primary objective is to emphasize that terminological consistency and fidelity to the original Greek expression of processuality are essential for a correct understanding of Aristotelian physics and subsequent philosophical interpretation.

Vznik a nejsoucí
