This text examines the relationship between historicity and historicality within the context of philosophy. The author argues that while philosophical problems have historical roots, they are neither reducible to nor derivable from them. The essay challenges the misconception that identifies the opposite of historicity with timeless eternity; instead, it highlights a non-objective dimension of history that remains inaccessible to purely external historical analysis. A fundamental distinction is drawn between the manner of thinking and the objective toward which thought aims—a reality not established by thought itself. Drawing on the work of Emanuel Rádl, the text suggests that an idea represents what ought to have occurred to us, regardless of whether it actually did. Consequently, history is understood not just as a sequence of past events, but also as a realm of possibilities and normative outcomes—what could have happened and what should have happened. Historicity is thus presented as a dynamic tension between factual history and an inherent moral or ideal requirement.

Dějinnost a historičnost
