This text examines the nature and topicality of human inquiry, emphasizing the importance of distinguishing between various types of questions based on their urgency and context. The author identifies two primary categories of topicality. On one hand, there are questions demanding immediate resolution under intense pressure, exemplified by a general in battle or a statesman in political conflict. These individuals must act swiftly with limited information and time, while their decisions are later scrutinized by others with the benefit of hindsight and more comprehensive knowledge. On the other hand, there are profound, fundamental questions that have occupied humanity for generations. Although these „eternal“ questions allow for lifelong reflection and provide ample time for consideration, they are inherently incapable of being definitively solved once and for all. The reflection highlights the complexity of human decision-making and the enduring presence of challenges that elude final answers, whether due to the constraints of a specific urgent situation or the intrinsic nature of the philosophical problems themselves.
