This text critically examines Masaryk's assertion that "emotion is blind," characterizing it as an inaccuracy or a half-truth. The author argues that emotion is not merely a subjective accompaniment to cognition but an integral part of perception and knowledge. Through emotion, we actively perceive and respond to reality; certain aspects of existence remain inaccessible unless we engage with them emotionally, whether through attraction or aversion. Drawing on the work of Max Scheler, the text emphasizes that empathy and love are not mere emotional epiphenomena but are fundamental components of perception and specific ways of knowing another person. The reflection concludes that primary perceptivity, or reactivity, is the fundamental ground of experience, while the categorization of different types of sensitivity is a secondary organizational process. This primal reactivity is a necessary prerequisite for any physiological, artificial, or technical instruments of perception to function. Overall, the piece shifts the philosophical perspective on the relationship between rationality and the emotional sphere, highlighting their intertwined role in how humans understand the world and others.

Cit a vnímavost
