Hejdánek: Excuse me, I must tell the people about you and welcome you officially.
My jsme často mluvili o té procesuální teologii, procesuální filosofii před dvěma roky, takže to je taková opravdu mezinárodní akademie.
We are extremely pleasant, I already told you this yesterday. You are the first Belgian philosopher we have here. It’s something very good for us and we are very pleasant and we welcome you both and hope you will be also content with us.
Jiný hlas: Thank you for your kind words. And I will start immediately with the subject. The subject will be on Hegel's conception on religion and history. There are in that topic two themes: religion and history. And at first you could say that both realities are opposed because religious activity is a kind of inner activity, is a relation towards God, in a certain sense beyond the world. And on the other hand history is a reality, an outer reality, a reality that belongs immediately to the external concerns of humanity.
But according to Hegel we could say that both are very closely united, even in this sense that his whole philosophy could be considered a philosophy of God as well as a philosophy of history. If you would give a summary of Hegel’s philosophy, you could say his philosophy is a philosophy of religion, and nothing less and nothing more than a philosophy of religion. And at the same time you could say that his philosophy is nothing else than a philosophy of history.
So both are closely united and that is connected with his idea of let us say the absolute, in religious terms we could say God, but there are some difficulties to identify God with the absolute, but let us not complicate things. Because the absolute, according to him, is to be considered, according to his famous saying in the preface of his Phenomenology of Spirit, the absolute is to be considered not only as substance, but as subject. And that means the absolute must be considered not only as substance, but as subject. That means the absolute is a reality that is developing himself, that is realizing himself. Subject means principle of activity, principle of free activity, and so not a reality in itself without relationship to something outwards him.
Therefore history is the room of the development of the absolute, and religion and the religious attitude is the view, the awareness of the truth of history. So you understand history in religious attitude, and the religious world is in a certain sense involved in history. That's my first point.
Hejdánek: Tak předmětem tohoto výkladu bude Heglovo pojetí náboženství a dějin.
Jiný hlas: The second point will consist in a further elaboration of this first point, namely Hegel's conception about the relation between the absolute and the reality. Quoting Hegel, I read: "The spirit alone is real, it is the essence of what exists in itself." The spirit alone is real, that means spirit is not only quality of a human being, as we say human beings are spiritual and material beings are not spiritual. Spirit alone is real, that means that has an ontological value. Spirit is the principle of all reality, the principle of all reality. Spirit, or let us say the absolute – it's not exactly the same, but to make things easier, let us take both as synonyms. It means this: the absolute or the infinite cannot exist without the other than the infinite. That's very important. The infinite cannot exist – the infinite, the absolute or God, to use that religious term, God – the infinite cannot exist without a relationship to the finite. The finite, the what is not infinite, the finite. The infinite needs the finite to express itself and to become fully himself, to be full himself. Therefore, spirit needs the other than itself, that means needs nature, needs material reality. But this material reality doesn't show completely the reality of the infinite, or put it in religious term, nature doesn't give completely glory to God, because nature is silent, nature is mute, nature in itself cannot give glory to God, cannot manifest God fully, cannot manifest, cannot express completely God. Therefore, in order to be able to receive that glory of nature, God needs finite spirits. The finite spirits are this expression of spirit that realizes, that will realize fully through nature, will realize fully the reality of God. So you could say this: God is in a certain sense embodied in the world, he communicates his reality to the other than himself, that means to the finite, in order to become himself fully spirit, and also in order to make the finite fully spirit, fully similar to himself. So the point that I want to stress is this: this reality is the manifestation of God not only in nature but in finite spirit, and through this reality God can realize his complete, his true existence.
Jiný hlas: The third point is a further elucidation of those fundamental principles of Hegel in order to arrive at our two concepts, religion and history. The most important work of Hegel is called Enzyklopädie der philosophischen Wissenschaften im Grundrisse, we could say it is his summa filosofie. And that work has three parts. First part is the logic, and that considers the idea, let us say the reasonable layer, the reasonable base of all reality. According to a saying of Hegel – it is but that's only a saying in his lectures, he has not written that, but it makes something clear – according to Hegel, it is God before creation, as the principle of all reality.
The second part of that book, the Enzyklopädie, is the filosofie of nature, filosofie of the material reality. That's the externalization of God, that's the Entfremdung, God has lost himself in the completely other reality than itself, spirit has lost himself in the completely other reality than itself, spirit has...
Hejdánek: produced the other than spirit, namely material world.
But as already said, this material world cannot recognize God. Therefore, or let us say in another way, the meaning of nature is to disappear. The meaning of nature is contingency, is coming on and passing away, is finite, ultimately is to disappear. Not as material thing, but its meaning. Its meaning is to disappear to make room for spirit.
Therefore, we have third part. First part logic, second part filosofie of nature, third part filosofie of spirit in the proper sense. That starts with finite spirits, that starts with human beings. And here in this third part, we have three levels. Three levels of spiritual activity.
The first level is what he calls the subjective spirit. That means the inner life of spirit, that means the inner freedom, freedom as starting point, not as its full expression. That's a kind of psychology and so on, as an abstraction, in the sense an abstraction, namely we take spirit without its relation to the objects. That's the subjective spirit. That's not so important for our theme, for our subject.
Second part, second level of that third part, second level of spirit is what he calls the objective spirit. Namely, a spirit to be fully what he is has to express himself. For instance, if I am thinking, I have to express my thought in words, I have to address myself to other people, I have to do something, I have to do acts, I have to decide to do this and not something else, and so on. So we have then that second level, that's the objective spirit. We could call this spirit in outer reality.
And that is the sphere of ethical life, namely ethical in the broad sense, namely family, economics, state, state, political structure. So those spheres are the expression of spirit and also the point of, the supporting point of spirit. Spirit cannot live without that contact with that external objectified spiritual world.
Those states have a temporal aspect, namely they make history. Subject of history, that is not an individual. I'm not making history. Of course there are important individuals in history. Napoleon is important in history and so on. But in principle history is born, is made by people. People develops themselves through history. That was then the second level, the level of objective spirit.
But according to Hegel, political life, that means historical events, historical inventions, historical progress and so on, is not the highest activity of man, is not the highest performance of man. Beyond this second level of spirit objective, we have the absolute spirit. Namely, this activity by which spirit becomes aware of what is happening in this external reality. Spirit becomes aware of the presence of spirit in reality, because spirit is the only reality, the only reality. If we really want to see what is happening in our world, we must look at what is spiritual in it. So that recognition of the spiritual character of our world, that's the absolute spirit.
This absolute spirit contains, and you know all things in Hegel, not all but most of them, contains three elements, three elements. This absolute spirit also contains three elements, namely we have three forms of being conscious, becoming aware of spirituality, of what is happening.
The first form, the lowest form, the first form is art, aesthetical contemplation, aesthetical joy with the things. Aesthetics is a certain way of seeing in reality something spiritual. The main example of this is certainly Greek art, but all art is in a certain sense a revelation of God. This revelation, namely of the ultimate spiritual reality that is active in the world. That's art, that's enjoyment in art.
The second form of this absolute spirit is religion. The religion not by contemplating but what he calls by representation, that means by images and so on, by images, by representation and by feeling, we become aware of the presence of the spiritual reality in the world, as we shall see later, we become aware of the unity of man with God.
The third level is then filosofie. This absolute spirit contains aesthetics, secondly religion, and thirdly filosofie. Filosofie is becoming aware, becoming conscious, recognizing the presence of spiritual reality by way of thinking. So we have three levels: intuition, aesthetical intuition in art, representation by images and by stories, and thirdly by thinking.
Namely, thinking means that what we see in religion, what we see in religion is made clear for reason. And by making it clear for reason, according to Hegel, we justify religion. So religion does nothing else than clarify, filosofie does nothing else but clarify the object of religion. Therefore he says the filosofie of religion as...
Jiný hlas: the same content. They talk about the same reality but in different ways. Religion does it in representation and filosofie does it in thinking. So therefore you can understand that Hegel says a people, a people gives itself the definition of its truth in religion. In religion it gives itself the truth, namely it shows itself what it considers to be the final reality, the ultimate aspect of the reality. As we will say later, and that is also in those texts I have given to be read, there are of course more or less perfect religions. That means all religions have not the same insight and not all religions are near the real truth, not all religions are perfect. Some are more or less perfect, but all religions, even in a less perfect way, conceive the ultimate reality, namely what is behind the world in which we live.
A v té Encyklopedii přichází tedy oddíl filosofie ducha, v níž se v takových třech rovinách pokouší ten problém teď vyjádřit. Tam to má tři takové stránky.
A co máte teď k tomu v té absolutní skutečnosti...
Jiný hlas: So, until now I've only given a general introduction in order to be able to understand the relationship between religion, then God, and on the other hand, history. History belongs to the objective spirit, religion belongs to the absolute spirit, is a kind of reflection and innerness of what is happening in history.
Now I want to give some more details now about what religion is. To say it simple, in simple words of Hegel, religion is defined as the elevation of the soul to God, elevation of the soul to God. And this definition implies two things or one important thing with two aspects. Namely, the heart of the matter of religion, according to Hegel, is – let me say elevation – is the consciousness, the awareness of the unity with God.
Therefore, for instance, the religion, the Jewish religion, will be an imperfect religion, will be imperfect because the stress is put upon the distance between God and the world. But nevertheless, in this distance, Jewish people were aware of being united because God was concerned with his people and Jewish people had to follow the law of God. So there was consciousness of unity, but they stress too much the distance between God and religion.
So the core, the heart of religion is the consciousness of the unity and the activity by which when we elevate our soul to God is the activity of uniting ourselves with God.
Secondly, but the same thing but on another aspect, when we are religious, when we elevate our soul to God, when we unify ourselves to God, that's not only our work. To put it roughly, religion is not the invention of man. Religion is the invention of God himself through man's activity. So when we, as according to the Holy Scriptures and certainly to the Gospels, in the Gospel there has been said that you can only know God through spirit, through spirit. That means through the activity of God.
So when people are able to recognize God, it's by the activity of God himself. So man knows God through the activity of God and God works through our activity at his fullest glory. He realizes his fullest glory through that recognition that the believers give God, that believers have of God. So what I want to stress is that in religious belief, we believe principally, the core of it is that we believe in the unity between God and our souls.
I’ve already said to you, there are more or less perfect religions. Means that not all religions have complete insight in what God is and in what religion is. The perfect religion, and therefore the absolute religion, that means a religion that is not dependent from something else, perfect religion is Christianity. Because it has as object the concept of religion itself. The concept of religion is the unity between God and the world. So Christianity has one point of faith, so to say, one point of faith, namely the unity of God and man. That’s according to Hegel, the core point of Christian faith is the unity between God and the world, so it has as object of its faith what religion precisely is, namely the unity between God and man.
--- (1982-11-01 Urbain Dhondt – Hegel (1) [LVA271VA]_Kaz b_cleaned.flac) ---
Jiný hlas: Christianity namely as as its main point of faith incarnation Jesus Christ. That means the unity of divine nature and human nature in one living man. It believes that as Christ showed us our destiny is to realize in certain sense – but as I already told you that we cannot realize it by our forces, we must realize it by the force of God himself by grace, should we say religious terms – we has to realize what Christ was, namely the unity between God and man, the unity between the human and divine nature. Realize in sense to become, to become, to become, not to, yeah, to become, to make real in sense of to become. Yes. Therefore also Hegel said the Christian religion is revealed religion, revealed, revelation, revealed religion, namely what means reveal is show, is show, that means is to externalize, that means to communicate. God we learn in Christian religion that God is love, that means God is communication of his own life. As we learn also that God in himself – and that as the precisely new conception of Christianity about God – is trinity. God is trinity. God is trinity. That means in God we have a life of giving himself, namely God posits the father, posits the son, externalize himself to one another and the son returns to the father in a mutual recognition, that's the holy ghost, the holy spirit. So what we have in trinity, that's nothing else than the explanation of what we believe in the incarnation and the death and the resurrection of Christ, namely that the meaning of this world as being created by God is to be united with God. This implies, that's important, that according to Hegel Christianity alone is the religion of freedom. What do we believe in when we believe that God is love and is communication and is unity with the world and wants to communicate his life to the world as he showed in his son, in Christ? What do we believe? We believe that we have a divine vocation, we have a divine destiny, we have the destiny of God himself, we have the destiny of spirit, we have the destiny of freedom. Therefore the Christian principle, Christian principle is the principle of freedom. Freedom does not mean, probably I don't want, it is not necessary to explain this, but freedom doesn't mean in filosofie arbitrariness, doesn't mean have to be able to do this and nothing else and to put this this way and to put this other way, or to take the metro and not the bus, or to take the bus and not the metro. That's not freedom. Freedom is linked with, that's tradition of Kant and that's also Christian tradition I think, freedom means disinterestedness, being disinterested, being unselfish. That's freedom. Being unselfish, that means being spiritual, not being linked to our desires and to our needs and so on, but be able to spiritualize our needs and our desires and so on. So if we have the destiny of a spiritual being, if we have the divine destiny, that means that we are conscious, that we become aware of our own spiritual reality, of our own vocation, destiny of love with each other, of disinterestedness with each other, of unselfishness. Therefore also the principle of freedom implies that we have an infinite vocation, infinite destiny, that all men are equal, or let it put it in another way: love, thus considering each other as sisters and brethren, love is the way of freedom, because freedom is precisely that, being conscious of it of course, that activity, that spiritual activity in our life. So Christianity is manifestation, revelation of freedom, namely we are conscious that our destiny is spiritual destiny and that we are all equal in this destiny. Or to put it in a more religious term, Christianity has revealed that God is the father. And what means fatherhood? Fatherhood means communication, means giving himself. And because we believe that God is our father, we believe that we are all brothers, we have to live from this life of God, namely from this life of love, from this life of communication, from this life of freedom. Thus the Christian doctrine implies that we believe in our capacity to become free and to act as free.
A to z dvojího důvodu.
Jiný hlas: Now let us turn to the concept of history. I'll try to explain you what religion is and what was the reason why Christianity has such an important role in religion, precisely because it was the perfect religion and that implied a religion of freedom.
History, as I already told you, is a kind of externalization of spirit. And of course, Hegel has been criticized for his philosophy of history, namely, according to some criticisms, he should have deduced from his ontology an a priori scheme and put it upon the reality. If Hegel was always right in his interpretation of history, we will not discuss it, but the general view of Hegel is beyond criticism according to me. This general view is this: historical facts need interpretation. Simply, historical facts... you talk about this event and you don't talk about another event. You cannot in history, you cannot talk about all events because they are infinite. So you make always your choice. You talk about this event because you say that's an important event. But if you say that's an important event, you have an idea of important to what?
And therefore you drop other events and you say: I will not make the history of Czechoslovakia, I will not talk about, let us say, the fact that it is now at this time five past eight when I am speaking about this or this, but we will say, for instance, that Napoleon was crowned emperor at that time, at that day of that year. So in all history we put some events into prominence and we consider other events as less important. Therefore events must be interpreted. And filosofie of history has to give that general view from which we can interpret events.
So it is then simple to see what will be that view. That will be his ontology. I explained you already, his ontology is a view upon the whole reality, namely that, as I told you at the beginning of this lecture, that spirit is the essence of all reality. The essence of all reality, not all reality, but the essence of all reality. Spirit is the essence of all reality. And if we consider temporal events, if we consider evolution, if we consider developments, we must see these developments as developments of spirit. That means as development to the realization of spirit, that means as development to realization of freedom.
Therefore Hegel says that history is theodicy. History, theodicy means the doctrine of the filosofie of the justification of the existence of God. Theodicy, you know, that means we see all those evils in the world and how can we believe that God exists? That's the problem of theodicy. We see all those evils and you believe in God and how can we believe in God? Filosofie of history is theodicy, namely is trying to show that it may be that there are evils and so on and so on, but nevertheless God is active, God exists, God is active, God is providence and so on. God is working in history. So we see necessarily, we see history as tendency towards more spirituality, towards freedom.
Hejdánek: Now already said that spirit is the essence of all reality, but spirit needs the other than itself, spirit needs material world. That means our spirit is not only substance, but subject. That means is not immediately fully himself, is not immediately completely realized. That means it takes time, it takes time. So the principle of freedom and realization of freedom will take time and that's the object of history.
In the beginning of history, that's the scheme of Hegel now of what history shows us, in the beginning of history we have the African people, the Oriental people, that were the civilizations we know about. African means Egyptians. And in these civilizations there was only one man free, one man, namely the emperor, the king and so on. And as you have already understood, he was in fact not completely free, because freedom means disinterestedness, means justice, means forgetting oneself and so on. And the king, when only the king is free, he is a despot and not really free himself, because he is a slave of his passions, he is not really free. Nevertheless, one man has the consciousness, was aware of being free, only one.
Then we have a second period in civilization, that's the period of the Greek and the Roman world. In this civilization of Greek and Roman world there were many men free, but not all, not all. Namely, there were the free citizens and there were the slaves. That means that in the Greek and Roman world man was not free as man, that was the principle of Christianity. Man was not free as man but as a citizen, as being born in a city, as having by development, development of his talents, having wisdom and so on, but not as man. Thus, let us say, in the second civilization few people were free, or a lot of people were free, but not all.
Then came the most revolutionary element in history, that came Christianity. The most revolutionary element because by Christianity, as I already told you, by Christianity we became aware of the fact that we were free as man, that all men are free. That's the revolutionary element of history, or as it's told in theology, Christ's incarnation, Christ is the center of history, is the turning point, the center in the sense of the turning point of history.
Vyžaduje to čas. A Hegel pracuje pomocí takové periodizace dějin.
Jiný hlas: So it takes time to realize freedom. It took also time for Christianity to realize that consciousness of freedom, that realize now that consciousness of freedom into the external reality. That's the history since the birth of Christ, namely this endeavor of spirit to embody freedom in the external world. As you know, in this evolution, Hegel ascribes an important role to Luther, who has purified, according to him, purified that principle of freedom, therefore he calls it from time to time the Protestant principle. He has purified it because according to him, the Middle Ages has forgotten it in a certain sense. He was not very sympathetic to medieval civilization except medieval theology, he loved medieval theology, but besides that, Christian belief was too much linked with external things, with external things and had forgotten the principle itself of Christianity, namely the inner freedom, the presence of God in our soul and so on. Important role is also ascribed to what he calls the Germanic people. That doesn't mean Germany, but Germanic people means the not Roman people, not Jewish people, what the population is of Europe, let us say Central Europe, and special of course Germany has a special role because Germany has had Luther. A special role is also ascribed to the French Revolution because it applied to social institutions that principle of egality and of equality and in that sense of freedom of all men, but because French revolutionaries had not the sense of the unity of community, of the unity of life, the French Revolution must necessarily fail. There was not enough sense for community, for the being living together, not the sense of people belonging to a community.
Jiný hlas: Now I arrive at my final part and precisely that will be the conclusion of what I have said until now and all I wanted to say about the relation between religion and history according to Hegel. The problem in principle is this: that on the one hand we have religious attitude and philosophical attitude, so both can be taken together because as I already said, philosophy is nothing else according to Hegel than reflection upon religion, than thinking religion, than clarify religion and so justify it. The problem is this, that religion and philosophy are theoretical attitude...
Hejdánek: that means an attitude by which we contemplate the world and a world that we contemplate, that means a world that is good in itself. The model of that theoretical attitude can be found in Greek philosophy where the philosopher is happy in contemplating the world as divine world, as an ordered world, as a world on which we have not to act because he is good. What we contemplate is something that is good, so contemplation doesn't stimulate to action, contemplation is not a principle of historical activity.
On the other hand, on the opposition of this, we have the practical attitude. The practical attitude means the world is bad, the world must be changed, we must act upon the world. Or to put it in temporal concepts, the contemplative attitude looks backwards, looks at the past, or let us say at the present as result of the past. Whereas practical attitude, that inspires us to action in history, practical attitude look towards the future.
The model of that practical attitude could be find in order to look for historical examples and not for examples of our own times. The model of that attitude could be find in the Jewish prophetic attitude, where the Jewish prophet, the Hebrew prophet is inciting the consciousness of the people to act, to do the law, to act according the law, to fulfill the will of God and so to realize the kingdom of God. Of course with the help of God and so on, and there are shades and different aspects in those different concepts of the Jewish view of the future. But nevertheless, the prophetic man is the man who see you mustn't look at the past, you mustn't look at the present, you must look at the future, you must wait the coming of the kingdom of God, at least waiting in this way that you must prepare him. Prepare this sense that, according to religious believe or Jewish of course, is God himself who will realize the kingdom of God, but nevertheless the prophets say to the people: you have to prepare that kingdom.
So we have the opposition between on the one hand religion and philosophy that is a contemplative attitude and the practical attitude, that's the attitude of acting upon the world, acting in history, acting with history.
A ten druhý, praktický vztah.
Hejdánek: Hegel's conception is the conciliation between theory and praxis, because according to what he says himself, because his philosophy is a reflection on Christianity, on the Christian faith as the revolution of the world. That means, according to me, two things, but the same thing but in two aspects. What's the condition for a man to be active in the world? To put it in a scheme, we have man and we have the world. Man and the world, and he has to be active, that's the problem, to realize freedom. How could he be active? Only active in the good way, namely active as realizing freedom. That presupposes first that he has a meaning, a conception of what he is, what he is himself and according to religion, we have here religion, according to religion, he is united with God, he has the same nature as God, he is a spiritual reality.
But this spiritual reality he has is only a potential spiritual reality, namely an inner freedom, an ideal of freedom, it is his awareness of his destiny to become free, namely united with God.
So there must be a link with the world. He is free, he believes that his destiny is to be free, and he must now act upon the world. He can only act upon the world when he believes that the world is the creation of God, that God is present in the world.
Or to put it in another way, that the principle of his own freedom is acting in the world, God is acting in the world.
Or to put it in another way, to be active in the world presupposes the conviction, the belief that the essential of what we have to do is already realized. The essential thing that basically in the world something is present that we have to realize.
Again, realize in sense to, to realize to make real, to realize in the world, to realize in the world, to realize in the world, to realize in the world.
Or put in another way, you can be active for instance in a desperate way, namely to fight against the devils. That does not incite us to be active. If we have to act against devils, we will never realize something of what we have to do because the devils are more powerful.
--- (1982-11-01 Urbain Dhondt – Hegel (2) [LVA272VA]_Kaz a_cleaned.flac) ---
Jiný hlas: ...be out complete enemy, our complete opposite force, we are not invited to be active. We can only be active if we believe that basically, potentially, is already realized what we have to realize. All other conceptions about practical attitudes, or whether either they make us aware of the possibility of freedom or they make us slave of reality.
Jiný hlas: To put it in more simple words, we have here man and the world, and the problem is how to realize manhood in the world, to realize freedom in the world and so on. In order to unite both, to have a tendency of man to act, you must go beyond that level. You must go beyond that level, you must have a principle beyond that level that unites you with the world. That's the belief in God, that we are of the same spirit of God, that our freedom is the same nature of God, and that God is the creator of the world, that he is already acting in the world. I would not mean that that's the idea of Hegel, I agree at least in this way with Hegel, that you must always have a belief in a kind of reconciliation, spiritual reconciliation with man and the world. And the problem is how to conceive that principle that is at the base both of ourselves, our spirituality and the world. Christianity as the spirit.
Jiný hlas: Thank you very much. We shall make now a break, a short break for ten minutes. Yes, okay.
The first one, it's known that Hegelianism as such has been utilized or has been exploited, so to say, within the framework of Marxism... should be as such a thing... question... [nesrozumitelné]
Jiný hlas: But what is even worse that in particular his Philosophy of State and Right was in, oh yeah, by the applied Marxism so enormously misused that against the background, against this background seems your interpretation as questionable. Whether well, the distance between these two possibilities is so big that George thinks it's quite questionable whether this interpretation fits or not. Okay.
Hejdánek: The Marxist interpretation goes of course different ways and the one way is to make a materialistic logic. Logic being the first part of the Encyclopedia. Yes, one way. And the Marxists know that this is not the correct Hegel interpretation. They know that. Lenin and so on have admitted that. Secondly, the Marxist interpretation stops with the Objective Spirit and neglects the higher level of the Absolute Spirit, art, religion and philosophy. In this... as far as this is concerned, I think that my interpretation is right. At least better than some Marxist ones.
What is possible to discuss is this: is the relation between the religion and philosophy as I conceived it, is this the true concept of Hegel? That is subject... whether, whether this is the true interpretation, namely the relation between the religion and philosophy. That's a matter of discussion. That means, the whole problem is, for instance, what is the relation between representation, representation meaning the way how religious relationship is conceived, and on the other hand, concept. Between representation and concept, that's the way of thinking in philosophy.
That has also to do with another aspect of the problem, namely the relationship between the infinite and finite. Namely, in what way is there a kind of independence, kind of yes, independence between activity of God and the activity of man. That I agree that are difficult points of interpretation of Hegel. And of course, if you say that God is nothing else than the activity of man, is nothing else than, I think that you cannot find that in Hegel, but some interpretations are so. God's activity is nothing else than the activity of man. Then of course, you open, you are open to a rather Marxist but not necessarily materialistic interpretation, but let us say to a irreligious interpretation, not religious interpretation. It is an atheistic interpretation.
To on neřekl.
Jiný hlas: I don't know, I don't have it in Czech.
Hejdánek: No, jak chceš.
Jiný hlas: To já to pak budu překládat.
Hejdánek: Dobře, dobře, zkus to.
Jiný hlas: Should I speak English or Czech? I would prefer to speak German because I want to cite some citations.
Hejdánek: Yes, yes, go on.
Je to tam na straně dvacet jedna? Tady to v tom levém.
Ja?
Jiný hlas: A vzájem existuje společný původ, něco, co spojuje obojí.
Darf man’s nochmals formulieren?

So Unabhängigkeit meint Einheit.
Jiný hlas: Genau so sagen.
