Tento dokument poskytuje stručný životopis Dr. Ladislava V. Hejdánka, narozeného v Praze 10. května 1927. Zachycuje jeho vzdělávací dráhu od základní a střední školy v Praze přes studium matematiky a filosofie přírodních věd a následně filosofie a sociologie na Filosofické fakultě Univerzity Karlovy, kde v roce 1952 získal doktorát filosofie. Dále popisuje jeho vojenskou službu, působení v dokumentaci a knihovnictví v Ústavu epidemiologie a mikrobiologie, následně v Ústavu filosofie ČSAV a po letech nucené práce v méně kvalifikovaných pozicích (noční hlídač, topič) získal v letech 1987–1989 grant Univerzity v Amsterdamu, kde mu byl téhož roku udělen čestný doktorát. Po návratu do Československa a habilitaci na Evangelické teologické fakultě UK v roce 1990, kde později získal profesuru, byl jmenován prezidentem obnovené Jednoty filosofické. V roce 1992 se stal řádným profesorem na Filosofické a Evangelické teologické fakultě UK a byl oceněn francouzským řádem Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres. Od roku 1993 je členem pařížského Institut International de Philosophie.
